Intel-based Macs Left In The Cold on Capture
A Technical Note on Nikon USA's Digital Knowledgebase outlines some of the compatibility issues of running programs on the new platform such as Capture or NikonView that were originally written for the Motorola-based Macintoshes. Rob Galbraith offers some insights based on his own field tests. Of interest is the fact that Capture NX, ideally the focus of Nikon's efforts in order to meet a late-summer launch, is not planned to be a Universal Binary at this time.

As a Mac user and a beta-tester of Capture NX, this was one of the questions I had for the developers at Nik Software. They are planning a UB release in one of the early maintenance patches for NX. UB support for Mac users is important to them, but it was not something that could make it into the initial product launch. That being said, this will only affect notebook and iMac users right now, as anyone with a current G5 or G4 tower does not have an Intel Mac.
