The Nikonians Academy Tanzania photo safari is on for November 2016. This marks Academy Director Mike Hagen's tenth safari to Tanzania and he keeps refining them to be better and better.
His trip focuses on northern Tanzania's national parks including Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Lake Manyara.
We still have spots available, and most people who come, bring their spouse, but we also have a lot of individual shooters attend as well.Academy Spotlight – Africa, Texas, Sri Lanka

Nikonians Academy Director Mike Hagen tells us he is nearing the deadline for closing enrollment on our Sri Lanka trip (beginning March 12).
Our intrepid travelers will visit quite a few national parks with amazing wildlife photography opportunities. In these parks, we've arranged transport in open-air vehicles to better photograph leopard, elephants, monkeys, birds and other wildlife.
When not photographing wildlife, our trip will focus on stunning landscapes and beautiful culture.Nikonians Academy Sri Lanka trip adds Dubai extension

Our member driven competitions are unique in many ways.
Unlike most other photo competitions the workings of our contests are transparent. Our members choose the monthly themes. All entries are visible to the entire community as they are posted and you are the judges (not an invisible behind the scenes “expert”).

The first places the emphasis on urban environments and the second takes our members on an incredible journey to the land of Fire and Ice.
Rick Hulbert is preparing for his first workshop of the New Year, when he leads attendees through diverse, target-rich places to gather images of Seattle. His four-day Urban and Street Photography workshop with a maximum enrollment of 10 people will begin on March 17, 2016.Nikonians Academy Spotlight: Urban Seattle and Iceland in Summer

Sri Lanka and Galapagos adventures going fast
December 1, 2015   8:47 PM
Nikonians Academy Director Mike Hagen tell us the 2016 Sri Lanka photo adventure trip has reached the minimum number of signups so it is now definitely a go for 2016. Join Les Picker on his photo tour of this enchanting land (March 12-23, 2016).
Travel guide book publisher Lonely Planet describes:
"Endless beaches, timeless ruins, welcoming people, oodles of elephants, rolling surf, cheap prices, famous tea and flavorful food describe Sri Lanka."
We couldn't agree more.
Les' trip dives deep into the local culture and wildlife for a journey you (and your spouse) will remember for the rest of your life.
The long-awaited NikoniansPress book, Mastering the Nikon D750, is now in stock at Amazon.com in the USA, and will be available soon in the UK and Europe. The book examines the Nikon D750 in an easy-to-understand way, providing knowledge based on real-life use of the camera.
Unlike many books that focus on general photography with a certain type of camera, the NikoniansPress books focus on how to use each camera function—with suggested settings—so that the reader becomes intimately familiar with the inner workings of the D750 and can call on that knowledge for different styles of photography.Mastering the Nikon D750 arrives
Preparing for the new year, Nikonians Academy Director Mike Hagen has compiled his personal thoughts on some highlighted workshops.
Two will take members to exotic locations while two in the United States will use architectural and street methods as a focus for improving your skills in photography.
As a bonus, Mike includes links to sites showing examples of the images you will have an opportunity to capture (with your own artistic interpretations).Nikonians Academy 2016 Highlights
Nikonians Academy Director pens new book
November 10, 2015   9:23 PM
Nikonians Academy Director Mike Hagen's new book titled The Nikon Autofocus System, Mastering Focus for Sharp Images Every Time is now available for purchase.
Created in conjunction with Rocky Nook and NikoniansPress, this book is aimed at photographers who want to improve their autofocus skills with Nikon DSLR cameras.
With today's advanced camera technology, achieving focus on a photographic subject seems like it should be a straightforward task. But many photographers know that it can be deceptively difficult, especially when shooting moving subjects or in challenging situations. Now, there is a complete guide available for Nikon shooters that will help them get tack-sharp photos every time.
