Today we disembark in Ft. Lauderdale as a last activity of the first
Nikonians Ultimate Travel Photography Workshop. For this workshop we used a cruiseship
M.V. Explorer of the
Semester at Sea organisation as base. Starting in Nassau, Bahama's we visiting 9 other ports in the Caribbean area, including the three dutch Islands Bonaire, Curacao and Aruba.
The workshop main focus was not on equipment technique but on the
creative side of photography. Nikonians Academy instructor
Michael Mariant focused the first days at sea on topics such as Cultural Sensitivity and the concept of Visual Thinking. Further down the trip he challenged all participants in a very positive way to try out these concepts in every 9 ports we traveled to, by debriefing the experiences of that day every night.
We learned to observe, communicated and if possible make the photograph we visualized. That is hard for a wildlife and sport shooter that I was before this trip. But the international participants (Australia, Canada, Israel, Portugal, The Netherlands and the USA) influence was very positive to stimulate other participant to step up a gear in creative photography.
In all a very good and positive workshop with the right amount of time to learn, experience the culture and practice the different way to photograph. So if your interested, check out the second
Nikonians Ultimate Travel Photography workshop Itinerary.
Be ready to change your life.
