Why is this Nikonian smiling?

You would smile too if your name was Pascal Baetens and you just finished a crowd pleasing session of model shooting demonstrations on behalf of Nikonians at the 2006 Photokina in Cologne, Germany. Nikonians co-founders J. Ramón Palacios and Bo Stahlbrandt have thanked the enthusiastic volunteer team for making their first organized appearance at the show a success and are still responding to the many photo-imaging professional contacts, friends, sponsors and advertising partners they met at the Photokina.

Returning home with a large collection of digital images and a long list of new industry professional contacts, JRP barely had time to unpack before making a few more photos available to Nikonians who missed the show, along with a quick look at the highlights, now available online.

The highlights photos include what could be mistaken as an average image of Bo (on the left) and some visitors admiring a tripod. That was no ordinary tripod.
It's called the "Super Gitzo" - and it is a combination of Gitzo Tripod, Markins Ball head, TB Plate, Titanium spikes and our Nikonians Tripod leg wraps by OP/TECH. For a closer look at how it is put together, click here.

JRP and Bo took a few seconds to pose with fellow Nikonians before one of the Pascal Baetens sessions started and then continued to greet visitors, including a number of Nikon representatives from around the world.

There was plenty of work for the Nikonians Team both behind and in front of cameras. Here we have a previously unpublished shot of JRP hefting some serious Nikkor glass.

Meanwhile, Bo met with Andrew Alexander from Imaging Resource who prepared the interview above.

The Nikonians Team also spent quality time with our good friends from LetsGoDigital, Dennis Hissink and Mark Peters, who were working on their Photokina Live Coverage edition.

With the 2006 Photokina successfully completed, Bo and JRP promise a return engagement in 2008, and they hope to see you there.
