10th Anniversary Photo Contest Update

Tenth_88.jpgFollowing the announcement of our Nikonians 10th Anniversary Photo Contest in the News Blogs, we've had a number of questions seeking details and a further explanation of the contest procedures (referred to as "tasks" in the Contest Rules).

Those tasks are merely stepping stones in a new concept for this particular contest. You will see that the actual image descriptions for the three months are centered on three basic themes (one per month) and should be fairly easy to accomplish.
In order to make sure that all the winners in the monthly segments and eventual grand prize selection are totally committed to the Nikonians community goals of "sharing, learning and inspiring" these stepping stones are set up to look for contest entrants who are actively participating in our forums and the photo galleries. Most of our members have probably already accomplished these tasks with no thoughts of entering the 10th Anniversary Photo Contest by their active participation in any of our forums.

First-Entry.jpgSo, for each month of the contest, you will become eligible to enter your image for the monthly segment as well as the grand prize by just having started a discussion thread, replied to any discussion thread, and posted any image (not your contest entry image) from your Nikonians Gallery into the Forum.

The contest rules spell it out in detail.

Another question that has come up (and since been resolved) regards pop-ups. Many of our members are not liking pop-ups and have them blocked. Those pop-ups were designed to help you keep track of the tasks as you proceed with the contest. However, recognizing that pop-ups are not popular (thanks to a number of postings in our forums and messages to our Help Desk) we have eliminated the pop-ups.

Another question that has come up is the grand prize option. We have been asked whether or not the trip to Brussels, Belgium (with round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations and a chance to study with internationally recognized Nikonians Photographer Pascal Baetens) is the only option. There are some who have expressed concern that they may not be able to make the trip in the June 11 through June 13 timeframe.

If our winner grand prize winner will not be able to make the trip, our contest coordinators are currently arranging for an alternative prize featuring a professional quality Nikon DSLR and other goodies). We don't have the exact details yet, but you will like it. :)

So, go have a look at those contest rules again—you will find the "tasks" are not that hard, and your pop-ups worries are taken care of.
