logo_nikon.gifNikon has introduced six new COOLPIX digital cameras with two standing out from the crowd.

Details on all of the newly released cameras are provided in three press releases from Nikon USA, and sample images from the cameras are available through the Global Nikon site (look on the right hand side of the page for all the releases dated Aug. 24).

If you wish to skim over the basic press release material with the help of Nikonians author Darrell Young (DigitalDarrell) his blog features a handy guide.

Nikonians Academy adds cities for popular workshop series

Responding to great demand for the Academy's Master Series workshops, more cities have been added to an already packed schedule. Nikonians Academy Director Mike Hagen fills us in:

Pass_284.jpg
Next weekend (August 27-28), Steve Simon is running two workshops in Vancouver BC on the D300/D300s and the D700/D3/D3s/D3x cameras.

September brings our workshops to New York City (September 8-11) and Indianapolis (September 22-25).

October, November and December are filled with workshops in Philadelphia, Washington DC, Denver, fairy_284.jpg
Boston, Chicago, Baltimore, Raleigh and Las Vegas.

Our Fall workshop series is kicking into high gear with a photo-rich series of outdoor and travel photography adventures.

• For the wildlife photographers in our midst, Jim Stamates will be running his third Nikonians Academy trip to Grand Teton NP October 3rd - 6th. Jim has an uncanny ability to find elusive wildlife in this amazing National Park. In our past trips, Jim's group has photographed bears, elk, raptors, coyote and moose. Jim has secured permits for a small group to explore the park during the Fall colors and rut. You won't be disappointed!
• We've just had one cancellation for our 11th ANPAT to Zion NP and Bryce Canyon NP. Don't wait -- this last seat will sell quickly.

• Michael Mariant is known world-wide for his ability to teach photography at the highest level. He has two workshops with seats available scheduled for November. The first is Yosemite (November 3-16) where he'll be working with photographers to capture Fall colors and Infrared interpretations of the landscape. The second is Death Valley (November 17-21) where he'll guide the group to some of this planet's most incredible austere landscapes.

If you are needing some inspirational "rocket fuel" to kick your flash photography into high gear then check out David Tejada's Professional Lighting on Location. Don't let the name of the workshop intimidate you. David's goal is to teach very simple techniques that anyone can use to create excellent looking images at any location. David is a patient instructor with years of teaching experience. These workshops are scheduled for October 15-16 in Los Angeles and October 22-23 in the San Francisco Bay area.

Nikonians Academy circles the globe

Nikonians Academy Director Mike Hagen reports he has only two seats left for the African Photo Safari in Tanzania in November 2011. The Academy has made arrangements for additional safari adventures in May and November of next year, and Mike has posted a blog article on the wildebeest migration.

African Photo Safari takes different "looks" depending on the visiting season:
On our November safari, we photograph the herds as they are leaving the Mara River and headed to the grasslands. During the May safari, we photograph the wildebeest rut on the central plains. Both trips offer great opportunities for migration photography.
